List of birds of Ecuador Part 1 Non-passerines (except hummingbirds)

The illustrated list of birds was compiled based on the results of our trip with Olga to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands in order to get acquainted with the nature of these places. This list includes birds from mainland Ecuador only. The birds of the Galapagos Islands will be described separately.

We were in Ecuador in September 2013 and we were able to observe birds in the following locations:
September 4th, late arrival in Quito, check-in at the "Antinea" hotel.
September 5, early morning birdwatching at the Antinea hotel, walking around the city. Afternoon transfer to San Jorge Eco-Lodge Quito and photographing hummingbirds at feeders.
September 6, moving along the old road Nono - Mindo to San Jorge Eco-Lodge Tandayapa. Bird watching at feeders.
On September 7, hike along the misty forest mountain trail at San Jorge Eco-Lodge Tandayapa. In the evening, drive to the habitat of the Andean cockerels.
September 8, moving along the old road Nono - Mindo to San Jorge Eco-Lodge Milpe. Bird watching at the lodge feeders.
September 9th, hike along the subtropical forest mountain trail to San Jorge Eco-Lodge Milpe. In the evening, visit the lodge's night feeders.
September 10th visit to the rainforest of the Choco region along the Silanche river, lunch at the Mirador Rio Blanco restaurant. In the afternoon he returns to Quito (hotel "Antinea").
from 11 to 16 September visit the Galapagos Islands.
On September 17, transfer to the eastern slope of the Andes through the Papallacta pass, accommodation at Guango Lodge.
On September 18, birding in the foggy forests of Guango Lodge, in the evening we return to Quito (hotel "Antinea").
September 19 morning walk through the historic part of Quito. Transfer to the airport in the evening. Flight to Moscow via Amsterdam.

Due to the large number of photos, I have divided the entire list into 4 parts:
Part 1 Non-passerines (except hummingbirds),
Part 2 Non-passerines (hummingbirds) - singled out this family of birds separately, due to the great interest in its representatives,
Part 3 Passerines (from Pechniks to Drozdy)
Part 4 Passerines (from Olyapka to Cardinals)

Latin and English names are given in accordance with the IOC World Bird List (Ver.4.01) and verified according to the AVIBASE website (http://avibase.bsc-eoc.org).
Russian names are mainly in accordance with Boehme, Flint, "A five-language dictionary of animal names. Birds". For some birds, newly introduced Russian names are given, provided to me by S.V. Volkov. In this case, the old names are given as synonyms.
I have been numbering the bird species I have met and photographed since 2010. These numbers are shown in brackets after the serial number of the list.
It so happened that I still haven't included some of the birds already familiar to me from Mexico in my general list, so I also mention them under a new number. And the "lifers" (the first encountered species) are highlighted in the list in bold.
I also listed the birds (without sequential numbering) that I saw or heard during the trip, but I could not take a photo of the bird.

Look for additional information about the trip in my LiveJournal under the tag "Ecuador-2013".
