Synonym: Myadestes obscurus.

Endemic to Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras.

On February 25, many birds were seen on the hills overgrown with dried thorny bushes, near the city of Comitan de Dominguez, Chiapas. In the evening, we observed current flights of males during the performance of songs, very similar to flights of bluethroats.
On March 4, we met in the mountains of the South Sierra Madre (Sierra Madre del Sur, Oaxaca).

On February 22, we met at a reservoir with an eagle near Calakmul Biosphere Reserve.
Sighted in Yaxchilan (Chiapas) on 24 February.
On February 28, we met birds on the way to the summit of Sumidero Canyon (Canon del Sumidero National Park, Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas).
On March 8, we met on the edge of a forest on the Atlantic slope of the Eastern Sierra Madre (Tuxtepec, Oaxaca).
